In meeting or exceeding nationwide standards, BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee earned the national health plan accreditation from URAC in 2008, in addition to accreditation for Quality Managed Care Services, HIPAA Privacy Initiatives, Health Web Site Standards and Commitment to Consumerism, Education and Support. Vicky Gregg, BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee CEO, earned the 2008 MacEachern Chief Executive Officer Award from the Public Relations Society of America, which honors a health care chief executive who has used public relations/communications effectively to demonstrate his or her organization's leadership and/or manage issues that affect the organization's reputation and integrity.
BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee won Best Compliance Practice Awards from The Health Ethics Trust? for its delegate oversight program and its audit programs in 2007, and CEO Vicky Gregg was named a Fellow for the organization. BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee earned eHealthcare Leadership Awards in 2007 for its Web site. BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee's licensed HMO affiliate Volunteer State Health Plan was awarded an accreditation status of 'Excellent' from the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) in 2006. BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee earned the Health Ethics Trust Best Compliance Practices Award and the Inspector General's Integrity Award in 2006.
