Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Montana is an independent, locally operated licensee of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association, and has been providing health care coverage to Montanans for almost 70 years.
Our vision at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Montana is to be the health plan of choice for Montanans. As Montana's largest and oldest health insurance company, our name is linked with exceptional service and cost-effective, innovative products.
For more than six decades, we have provided our customers with the security of knowing they have health care when they need it. Today, as a not-for-profit health plan, we continue to provide that security, and our mission is to help people lead healthier lives.

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Montana sponsors or contributes to over 200 Montana charities, community organizations, and events. Among them are:
> The Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Montana Governor's Cup, Montana's largest running and fitness event. The Governor's Cup has been highlighted in Runner's World as one of the top ten road races in the United States. Over 6,000 participants annually from more than 30 states and several foreign countries take part in Governor's Cup events, which promote active, healthy lifestyles. All proceeds go to the Caring Foundation of Montana, a nonprofit organization that helps children get the healthcare services they need.> The Caring Foundation of Montana. In 1992 Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Montana established The Caring Foundation of Montana, a nonprofit organization that provides access to primary and preventive medical, dental, and vision services for uninsured Montana children whose families earn too much for public assistance. Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Montana donates 100 percent of the administration costs necessary to operate the Foundation.
