Scott Flanders has served as Chief Executive Officer of eHealth, Inc. since May 2016 and as a director since February 2008. Prior to joining eHealth as CEO, Mr. Flanders served as the chief executive officer of Playboy Enterprises, Inc., a media and lifestyle company from 2009 until May 2016, and continues to serve as a member of its board of directors. Previously, Mr. Flanders served as the president and chief executive officer of Freedom Communications, Inc., a privately-owned media company, from January 2006 to June 2009, and as a member of its board of directors from 2001 to 2009. From 1999 to July 2005, Mr. Flanders served as the chairman and chief executive officer of Columbia House Company, a direct marketer of music and video products, which was acquired by Bertelsmann AG in July 2005. Mr. Flanders holds a B.A. degree in economics from the University of Colorado and a J.D. from Indiana University. He is also a certified public accountant.
Tom Tsao has served as eHealth's Chief Technology and Product Officer since September 2014. In this role, Mr. Tsao oversees the engineering, quality assurance, project management, site operations, product management, and user experience design teams. Mr. Tsao previously served as eHealth's Senior Vice President of Product Management since June 2012. Mr. Tsao brings over 17 years of Internet and ecommerce experience to eHealth. Prior to joining eHealth, Mr. Tsao was Vice President of Product Management at Walmart.com. Before joining Walmart.com, Mr. Tsao spent six years at Yahoo! Inc. where he held various senior management positions from August 2005 to May 2011, including serving as Yahoo's Vice President of Global Product Planning and Business Management and Vice President of Product Management for Integrated Consumer Experiences, in addition to various other product management positions. Prior to Yahoo!, Mr. Tsao spent four years at eBay overseeing the Buyer and Seller Tools Business Unit. Mr. Tsao also spent five years at Netscape in various product management roles. Mr. Tsao holds a B.A. degree in Quantitative Economics from Stanford University.
Dave Francis has served as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer since July 2016. Prior to joining eHealth, Mr. Francis served as managing director, equity research at RBC Capital Markets from November 2013 to July 2016. From 2007 to October 2013, he served as managing partner of The JAAG Group/JAAG Research, a healthcare/technology consulting and research firm founded by Mr. Francis. Previously, Mr. Francis was managing director and co-head of Healthcare Equity Research at Jefferies & Co., and has over 25 years of capital markets experience in the health care and technology industries. Mr. Francis holds a B.S. degree in economics with concentrations in finance and management from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
Robert Hurley has served as Executive Vice President, Sales and Operations since November 2015. In this role, Mr. Hurley is responsible for Sales and Operations for the company's individual and family plan business, Medicare and Small Business and related business opportunities. Mr. Hurley also oversees the company's relationships with health insurance carrier partners and the company's customer care center operations. Prior to becoming Executive Vice President, Sales and Operations, Mr. Hurley served as eHealth's Senior Vice President of Sales and Operations since March of 2011. Prior to this role, he had served as Senior Vice President of Carrier Relations since May 2007 and Vice President of Strategic Initiatives since September 2003, where-in he was responsible for our public and government relations activities. From April 1999 to September 2003, Mr. Hurley served as Vice President of Customer Care and managed the operations of the company's customer care center. Prior to joining eHealth, Mr. Hurley served as Associate Vice President of Sales and Operations for the consumer business segment at Health Net, Inc., a managed health care company. Mr. Hurley holds a B.A. degree in law and society from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
Jeff Bernstein has served as Senior Vice President, Marketing since July, 2013. He leads all of the company's marketing efforts, including oversight of branding, customer acquisition, digital marketing, business analytics, content and public relations and communications. Mr. Bernstein came to eHealth from Universal McCann, where he led the San Francisco office and oversaw accounts for leading brand-name clients. Prior to Universal McCann, Mr. Bernstein was the co-founder and chief marketing officer of the PBJS Advertising Agency, where he headed marketing, sales and PBJS's online advertising business. PBJS was sold to the Publicis Group in 2008. Earlier in his career, Mr. Bernstein worked for the Microsoft Corporation where he served as director of MSN ad product planning and industry development. Mr. Bernstein started his career at BBDO NY where he co-founded the BBDO Interactive Group (later to become Atmosphere). Mr. Bernstein holds a B.A. in political science from Miami University.
