You may be eligible for Medicaid or CHIP

To find out if you're eligible, contact your state's Medicaid authority through the Nebraska Medicaid site or by calling 1-800-254-42021-800-254-4202.

Healthcare.gov can also help you enroll. The Federal Marketplace can submit your Medicaid application for you to determine your Medicaid/CHIP eligibility.

If your state determines that you don't qualify for Medicaid/CHIP based on income or disability, you can still buy health coverage through the Marketplace. Plans can't deny you coverage or charge you more if you have a disability. Visit Healthcare.gov

If you do not believe you are eligible for Medicaid or CHIP, you may continue to shop for a qualified health plan.

Coverage before Medicaid

While you wait for a decision from your state's Medicaid authority, a short-term health plan can help bridge coverage gaps. Or, consider buying a telemedicine product with round-the-clock virtual doctor access and prescription assistance.

* Short-term plans are temporary coverage with limited benefits. Telemedicine products are not insurance and are not intended to replace insurance. Short-term and telemedicine products aren't a substitute for Medicaid and aren't a government benefit. They are not ACA-compliant, don't cover pre-existing conditions and most are not guaranteed issue. You'll pay a monthly premium for this coverage. You may still be subject to the tax penalty for not having insurance. Review the details of each program carefully; benefits vary.
