Are you concerned about getting help with prescription drug costs? Fortunately, as a Medicare beneficiary, you may be eligible to enroll in a Medicare Prescription Drug Plan from Humana to get this coverage.
Original Medicare, Part A and Part B, includes very limited prescription drug coverage. Medicare Part A (hospital insurance) may cover prescription drugs that are part of your treatment as an inpatient, while Medicare Part B may cover certain prescription drugs administered to you as an outpatient. Medicare Part D Prescription Drug Plans are available from private insurance companies, like Humana, that contract with Medicare to deliver this benefit to you.
Anyone who is eligible for Original Medicare (Part A and/or Part B) is generally also eligible to enroll in Medicare Part D to get prescription drug coverage, such as a Humana Medicare Part D Prescription Drug Plan. While enrollment is entirely voluntary, it’s important to sign up as soon as you are eligible if you think you’ll want this coverage. If you don’t, you may have to pay a late-enrollment penalty with your monthly premium when you do sign up for Medicare prescription drug coverage – a penalty you’ll continue paying as long as you have this coverage.
Stand-alone Medicare Part D Prescription Drug Plans are simply plans that work alongside your Original Medicare coverage and may help pay your prescription medication costs. Because these plans come from private, Medicare-approved insurance companies like Humana, your costs (such as premiums, copayments, and deductibles) may vary from plan to plan.
Each Medicare Part D Prescription Drug Plan from Humana has a formulary, which is a list of prescription drugs the plan covers organized into tiers, or price levels. This is true of all Medicare Part D Prescription Drug Plans. When you’re choosing a plan, you may want to make sure the plan’s formulary lists the medications you take. A plan’s formulary may change at any time. You will receive notice from your plan when necessary.
Here are the Medicare Part D Prescription Drug Plans (PDPs) that Humana offers. Please note that availability may vary depending on where you live.
You can see the different Humana Medicare Part D Prescription Drug Plans available in your area by using the Humana PDP search tool.
You can get Medicare prescription drug coverage in either of two ways:
Humana’s Medicare Advantage Prescription Drug plans offer you an alternative way to get all your Medicare benefits in one convenient plan. By law, Medicare Advantage plans must cover everything Original Medicare covers (except for hospice care, which is still covered by Part A). Humana’s Medicare Advantage plans typically include prescription drug coverage. However, in addition to prescription drug coverage, some plans may offer additional benefits such as coverage for routine vision, dental, and hearing care.
You must continue to pay your Part B premium, plus any premium required by your plan, if you enroll in a Medicare Advantage plan.
Humana’s stand-alone Medicare Prescription Drug Plans (PDPs), on the other hand, work alongside your Original Medicare coverage, and they can’t be combined with most types of Medicare Advantage plans. In fact, if you enroll in a Medicare Advantage plan with prescription drug coverage and then enroll in a stand-alone Humana PDP, you may be automatically disenrolled from your Medicare Advantage plan and returned to Original Medicare.

Humana is a Medicare Advantage HMO, PPO, and PFFS organization and a stand-alone prescription drug plan with a Medicare contract. Enrollment in any Humana Medicare plan depends on contract renewal.
