Blue Cross is financially strong and stable. We maintain a surplus of funds for protection for our policyholders. These reserves ensure that external factors or natural disasters do not hinder our ability to pay claims. We paid $9 million in taxes in 2006 and returned $2.54 billion to the Louisiana economy. As a partner in the community, Blue Cross supported more than 200 charitable organizations throughout Louisiana.
