Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana is Louisiana's oldest and largest health insurer. We are a mutually held company owned solely by our policyholders. Our mission is to improve the lives of our customers by providing health guidance and affordable access to quality care.

Blue Cross is financially strong and stable. We maintain a surplus of funds for protection for our policyholders. These reserves ensure that external factors or natural disasters do not hinder our ability to pay claims. We paid $9 million in taxes in 2006 and returned $2.54 billion to the Louisiana economy. As a partner in the community, Blue Cross supported more than 200 charitable organizations throughout Louisiana.
